Artwork Queries
What formats do you accept Artwork in?
- At Greenprint we use both Macs and PCs.
- We accept PC files in these formats: Corel Draw, Quark Xpress, Photoshop, Pagemaker, PDF.
- Mac files in these formats are accepted: Quark Xpress, Corel Draw, PDF.
- We can also accept Graphic formats created in PC as well as Mac formats such as: TIFF, EPS, JPEG, etc.
- Artwork in Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word etc are subject to a conversion charge.
- We require fonts for all artwork that you supply, even for EPS or PDF formats.
I have downloaded some images from the internet can you print from them?
For best results we need pictures to be supplied at 400dpi and saved in CMYK colour. Most images found online are saved in RGB colour at 72 dpi, so whilst we could print from them the results would be very poor and there will be a colour variation when converted from RGB to CMYK.
Can I supply you with films and a Cromalin?
No. We operate with Computer-to-Plate (CTP) and no longer have the facilities to accept films. You must supply your artwork to us on disk or by e-mail.
Can I email files?
You can. You should send them to info@greenprint.co.uk
or
glasgow@greenprint.co.uk There is no
physical limit on the size of your e-mail, but we suggest
that if it is larger than, say, 20Mb that you send it on a
disk.
Do I get a colour proof?
Yes. All our prices include one full colour proof if required that we aim to provide to you within 24 hours of receiving your artwork. If everything is OK all you need to do is sign the accompanying approval form.
I have done my artwork in Microsoft Publisher but it looks quite poor - can you make it look more professional?
Yes. We can make artwork created in almost any program look professional - however, in order to do this we would need to reformat the artwork so as to use it in the applications that they design in. This is a fairly lenghty proccess so the artwork costs may be restrictive.
Do you print with bleed?
Yes we do.
In fact all work is printed with bleed. We recommend that you use a 1.5mm bleed on all edges of the document, unless, of course, your document doesn't require bleed (eg. blank at edges) - see the image below. If you are using software which doesn't allow you to use bleed (such as Word or Publisher) simply oversize your document 3mm on the width and 3mm on the height. Please keep all text at least 3mm within edge of page.
